Bowman Bay Wildlife Sanctuary

Bowman Bay is a wildlife sanctuary located within the Great Plain of the Koukdjuak River on western Baffin Island near Foxe Basin. It is accessible by bush plane from Iqaluit. At 1,079 square kilometres (417 sq. mi.) in size, it is classified as Category IV (Habitat/Species Management Area) under the International Union for Conservation of Nature. This sanctuary protects vital marine and avian wildlife habitat, including the nesting grounds of the blue goose.
